Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer trial classes?

YES! Contemporary... Hip Hop... Jazz... Ballet... Singing... not sure which is the right class for your child? Newcomers are welcome to trial their first class of any style, simply select schedule trial class when enroling. If it is not a perfect fit there is nothing to do, the class will be dropped automatically after the trial lesson and there is nothing to pay. To continue with enrolment after the trial parents can contact NBD. Those continuing will be billed from the trial date.

Can I watch my child's trial class?

At our larger venue St Josephs on Lindsay St we have 10 chairs set up and spaced accordingly to social distancing requirements. Please note we have a strict 1 person per student policy to help us align with COVID space restrictions and parents / guardians are invited to view the first trial lesson and 2nd lesson if needed. At our smaller hall St Johns, we are unable to allow any parents or guardians viewing trial lessons as we have reached capacity in most of our classes for the number allowed inside the hall. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience, our usual policy is for parents to view the first few lessons while children settle and the last 5 minutes of each class. We aim to hold open viewing weeks as soon as restricitons allow, this usually happens at the end of term.

What should my child wear for their first class?

Easy! No uniform is needed for the first lesson, anything comfy to move in is perfect with bare feet or soft shoes. Once you are certain your child will continue you can check our uniform list under 'shared files' on your parent portal (set up when enroling)

Do you take enrolments all year?

Yes! This is is subject to class availability, performances and exams however we will always do our best to accommodate new students throughout the year. Anyone joining partway through a term will have their fees prorated.

Can you tell me about mid year and end of year performances?

Sure! We hold an informal performance at the end of term 2, no costumes, audience members attend for free and it is great opportunity for our students to show what they have been learning. Our performance in December is a polished production held at Smith Auditorium in North Sydney, we write, create and choreograph musical plays and children have the opportunity to perform in beautiful costumes on a big stage with professional lighting! All our performances are split by age group to ensure the shows are no longer than 45 minutes for preschool and 90 minutes for school age. We know the performances are our students favourite time of the dance year however we understand life is busy, if you have a clash it is no problem for your child to come along to class without committing to a performance.

How can I book the walking bus from NBPS?

We offer a walking bus service from NBPS to our Neutral Bay venues, children are collected either straight after school or from NBPS after school care and safely escorted the short walk to their NBD lesson, after dance class children can be returned to NBPS after school care.
