FAQ

  • Do you offer trial lessons?
Contemporary... Hip Hop... Jazz... Ballet... not sure which is the right class for your child? At NBD we understand how important it is to get the right fit, therefore newcomers are welcome to trial any style before committing to a term. There is nothing to pay upfront or for students who do not continue after their trial lesson. Students who enrol are billed from the trial lesson date.
  • How can I sign up?
Enroling is easy! Click the ENROL TODAY button at the top of each page. Select create new account, once you have entered your details you will be taken to the home page of your NBD parent portal. You will see SCHEDULE A TRIAL or ADD TO WAITLIST linked underneath each class description, click on the link, select a date and then select submit. You will receive email confirmation once finished. It takes around 5 minutes to complete, if you have any trouble get in touch we are happy to talk you through it!
  • How can I book the walking bus from NBPS?
The NBD walking bus is available Monday through Friday for NBPS students, running between NBPS, NBD, and OOSH. Children are collected for the first or second dance class of the afternoon and can be returned to OOSH after these classes. Each pick-up is $5.50, charged by the term. To arrange for your child's collection, please contact info@neutralbayschoolofdance.com. (Note: Kindy children are collected at 2:45pm while they finish early at the start of the year. All other pick ups are made at the bell or approx 15 minutes prior to dance class if collecting from After School Care)
  • Can I watch my child's trial lesson class?
Yes! One adult per student may watch the trial class. After the trial is complete we aim for drop off at the door and collection after the lesson however we understand this may take time with very young students. Open viewing weeks are organised at the end of each term for Preschool classes and end of Term 1 and 3 for school age classes. We regularly share photos and video via a private platform.
  • What should my child wear for their first class?
Easy! No uniform is needed for the first lesson, anything comfy to move in is perfect with bare feet or soft shoes. Once you are certain your child will continue you can check our uniform list under 'shared files' on your parent portal (set up when enroling)
  • Do you take enrolments all year?
Yes! This is is subject to class availability, performances and exams however we will always do our best to accommodate new students throughout the year. Anyone joining partway through a term will have their fees prorated.
  • Can you tell me about mid year and end of year performances?
Sure! We hold an informal performance at the end of term 2, no costumes, audience members attend for free and it is great opportunity for our students to show what they have been learning. Our performance in December is a polished production held at a local theatre, we write, create and choreograph musical plays and children have the opportunity to perform in beautiful costumes on a big stage with professional lighting! All our performances are split by age group to ensure the shows are no longer than 45 minutes for preschool and 75 minutes for school age. We know the performances are our students favourite time of the dance year however we understand life is busy, if you have a clash it is no problem for your child to come along to class without committing to a performance.
  • What are your term dates?
NBD closely follows public school term, you can find our term dates on our Timetable page.
  • What does it cost and can I use my Active and Creative Kids Vouchers?
Sure! NBD is an Active and Creative Kids provider. Once you have enroled your child you can email us your voucher number to redeem against term fees. To read our full list of fees, at the top of the page select ABOUT / FEES & SERVICES
